CHIEF SAMPSON OJI AGBARU, JP
Ochi Ohna Ikwerre XII (2009 - 2012)
Born October 12, 1938, in Ndele, Emohua LGA, Chief Sampson Oji Agbaru was a retired civil servant, community leader, and elder statesman. Academically, he attended St. Luke's School, Emohua where he obtained the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1953 and the Teachers Grade II Certificate in 1958. He proceeded to the premier University of Nigeria where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Economics in 1965. He later obtained a Master of Education degree in Curriculum Studies from the University of Toronto in 1980 and an Advanced Certificate in Educational Planning from Paris in 1973.
Traditionally, he held the title Ochi Ohna Ikwerre XII and served as President General of Ogbakor Ikwerre from 2010 to 2013.
His contributions to Ogbakor Ikwerre and the Ikwerre nation were exemplary. His work career spanned from Grade III Teacher (1959) to Director-General, Rivers State Ministry of Education (1994-1995). In 1995, he was appointed Secretary to Rivers State Government and Head of Service. He served as Chairman of Rivers State Library Board (2000-2004), President of Rivers State Co-operative Finance Agency (2001), Member of the Nigerian Economic Society, Member of Joint Consultative Committee on Education (JCC) (1972-1985), and Professional Adviser to the Nigerian Association for Cooperative Education. He was a Member representing Rivers State at the 2005 National Political Reform Conference. He served as Member of Rivers Advisory Council, Member of Emohua Elders Forum of the People's Democratic Party, Life Patron of Boys Brigade Nigeria Rivers State Council, and 1st Vice-President General of Ogbakor Ikwerre Convention before becoming President-General. He is married with children and grandchildren.
