Emenike Nyeche Wami is a 1974 MSc Petrochemical Engineering graduate of Gubkin Institute of Petrochemical and Gas Industries, Moscow; and has PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1979, from Imperial College, London. It is on record that he is the first PhD graduate in Chemical Engineering from the old Rivers State. He is an Erudite Professor of Chemical Engineering and a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers. He has held several positions in his Professional Engineering Division which include Chairman, Rivers-Bayelsa States Chapter, Editor in-Chief, JNSChE, Deputy National President (2012-2014) and National President of Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (2014-2016). He is also an honorary fellow of NATE since October 2009. Engr. Prof. E. N. Wami has held many positions in the academia, society and the industry. From 1980 until his retirement in 2010, he lectured in RSUST where he served as the first Nigerian Head of Department of Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering (1984-1987 & 1991-1994); Dean of Faculty of Engineering, (2001- 2004 & 2009 – 2011), and Dean of Post Graduate Studies and Chairman, Committee of Deans (2004 -2005). Between 2013 – 2016, he was a Visiting Professor and Dean Faculty of Engineering, Federal University Wukari, Taraba State. He was the Rector Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori, (1994 – 1998) and elected Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (1987-1989); member, Governing Councils of RSUST (2003 – 2005;2006-2011) and Rivers State College of Education (2002 – 2005); member Rivers State Development Blueprint Committee (1990) and many others too numerous to list in this citation. Currently he is a Board member of RVNESCA. He has led and served in many National University Commission (NUC), NBTE and COREN Accreditation Teams to numerous Universities and Polytechnics in the country. He was a member of the National Assembly Committee for Recruitment of Project’s Coordinator for Policy Analysis and Research Projects (PARP)2004, and many others. For many years, he has been serving as External Undergraduate and Post Graduate Programs Examiner for National and International Universities and also Professorial Assessor in Chemical Engineering to many Universities. Engr. Prof. Emenike Nyeche Wami is a Professional Chemical Engineer and Scientist with vast experience cutting across the industry and academia, has many learned publications to his credit. He consults for many companies on pollution and waste management, oil and gas engineering field development studies. Between 2005 -2006 he served as Senior Research Advisor in SPDC. He is the Vice-Chairman, Del-Sigma Petroleum Nig. Limited, a Marginal Field Operator(OML 55); and the Director /Principal Consultant of Integrated Engineering Consultants & Integrated Technical Associates. Engr. Prof E. N. Wami, who hails from PHALGA in Rivers State, is the 2018 recipient of LEADS Africa Merit Award of the year, where he was described as a “Patriotic Academic” by League of African Development Students. He is happily married to Mrs. Victoria Nma Wami and blessed with children and grandchildren. Currently he is the President–General, Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation World-Wide.
